Considered one of the finest theatre venues in Australia, Sydney's art deco Capitol Theatre had its origins in the 1890s as the Belmore Markets, which contained not only produce markets but also a circus, theatre and sideshows. Now a major 2000-seat theatre, it has been the home in recent times of various long-running musicals, such as the current Lion King.
