Friday November 18, 2005
The International Rugby Board meeting in Dublin, Ireland, decided this morning that the 2011 Rugby World Cup would be held in New Zealand. Also in the running to host the 2011 event were South Africa and Japan. New Zealand hosted the inaugural World Cup in 1987. South Africa hosted the Rugby World Cup in 1995. Japan has not had the chance to be host. The next Rugby World Cup is to be held in 2007 in France except for three pool matches to be held in Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
