Christmas in Australia
Tuesday December 20, 2005
Forget about dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh. It's never a white Christmas in Australia where Christmas Day occurs in the first month of the southern summer. Unless of course, you are at the top of Mt Kosciuszko where you still might find some unmelted snow. And forget the hot roast dinner, too... the trend is toward seafood and salads...
The day after Christmas Day is, of course, Boxing Day, and if you're in Sydney or along the southern Australian Pacific Coast, Boxing Day is also the day the danger-fraught Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race begins.
