Australian Open: Baghdatis, Mauresmo,
Henin-Hardenne through to Finals

Unseeded player Marcos Baghdatis (Cyprus) is through to the men's singles finals after a five-set battle with No 4 seed David Nalbandian (Argentina). From being down two sets, Baghdatis powered on to win, 3-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, in the semi-finals on Day 11 of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park. He meets either Roger Federer (Switzerland) or Nicolas Kiefer (Germany) in the finals on January 29.
Clijsters Retires with Injury in Semi-Finals
Women's No 2 seed Kim Clijsters (Belgium) retired from her semi-final match with No 3 seed Amelie Mauresmo (France) in the third set of the Australian Open due to injury. Clijsters was forced to withdraw after rolling her right ankle when facing a break-point against the Frenchwoman who had a slight edge at the time with the score at 6-7, 6-2, 3-2. Mauresmo advances to the women's finals on January 28 against No 8 seed Justine Henin-Hardenne (Belgium).
Henin-Hardenne defeated No 4 seed Maria Sharapova (Russia), 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, in the semi-finals on January 26 and advances to the finals on January 28.
