Endeavour Sails to Melbourne
Friday March 10, 2006
The replica of Captain James Cook's 18th-century sailing ship, the Endeavour, is on its way to Melbourne in conjunction with the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games opening on March 15. The Endeavour is expected to arrive in Melbourne on March 12, and is scheduled to start her voyage home to Sydney on March 31 with a stopover at Eden just north of the Victorian border.
The original Endeavour first reached Australia in 1770, landing at Botany Bay on April 28 in the area that is now Botany Bay National Park.
