Queen Elizabeth II in Sydney
for Opera House Ceremony
Monday March 13, 2006
Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, today attended a ceremonial welcome at the Sydney Opera House forecourt. The Queen's arrival was marked by a 21-gun artillery. After reviewing the troops, the Queen opened the Opera House's western colonnade, the first exterior change to Sydney Opera House, since its opening in 1973, and rectified an historical omission by paying tribute to Danish designer Joern Utzon.
