With the announcement yesterday of this year's winners in Australia's Archibald, Photographic Portrait, Sulman and Wynne Prizes, the corresponding exhibition of winners and finalists opens today at the Art Gallery of New South Wales at The Domain in Sydney. This year's winners:
Archibald Prize for Portraiture: Marcus Wills, The Paul Juraszek monolith (after Marcus Gheeraerts)
Photographic Portrait Prize: Vanila Netto, The magnanimous beige wrap - part 1 (contraption)
Sulman Prize (for subject/genre painting and/or mural work): Jiawei Shen, Peking treaty 1901
Wynne Prize (for landscape painting or figure sculpture ): John Beard, The Gap
The exhibition (admission $8, concession $6) continues until May 28. The Art Gallery of New South Wales is open daily from 10am to 5pm and until 9pm every Wednesday for Art after Hours.
