Favorite for this race was Casino Prince with pre-race fixed odds of $4 win, $1.75 place as of 7am, April 7, followed by Churchill Downs and Diego Garcia, both at $7 win, $2.50 place. Close behind was Miss Finland at $8.50 win, $2.85 place.

Sydney Turf Club's showpiece event, the Golden Slipper is the world's richest race for two-year-old thoroughbreds.

Five group 1 races were run on Golden Slipper Day: The BMW, George Ryder Stakes, Queen of the Turf Stakes and Arrowfield Stud Stakes, in addition to the Golden Slipper race.

If the emergencies don’t get a run, Wonderful World will start from gate 13, from which barrier no horse has yet won the Golden Slipper.

Wonderful World is trained by Bart Cummings who hasn’t had a winner in the Golden Slipper since Century Miss in 1979.

Might be time for a winner from gate 13 and from the Cummings stable.

And no horse has won the Golden Slipper from barrier 16 either, so what’s one to think?
