Sunday October 22, 2006
Legendary Australian racehorse Phar Lap was poisoned in America, says a report at news.com.au today, October 23, Australian eastern standard time.
The report said secret scientific tests using breakthrough technology had "uncovered evidence the legendary racehorse was poisoned with arsenic just hours before his 1932 death."
Scientists used a US synchrotron, or particle accelerator, to unlock the 74-year-old riddle of Phar Lap's mysterious death, news.com.au reported.
Phar Lap died in suspicious circumstances a fortnight after winning the Agua Caliente Handicap in Mexico just south of San Diego, California, in 1932.
