Award-Winning Video Installation
at Art Gallery of New South Wales
Friday November 17, 2006
The works of seven finalists for the Anne Landa Award for video installations are on exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales from today, November 17, until February 11.
This includes the work of award-winner Monika Tichacek called The Shadowers which was "censored" while on public display in Melbourne by being shunted to a backroom at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image.

The Shadowers is described as unfolding a sado-masochistic relationship of force and submission among three protagonists, or shadowers, one of whom is the artist.
The interplay between these forces is presented in an episodic fashion: intrusive acts of physical force take place on the body alongside beguiling moments of intimacy.
Tichacek was born in Switzerland but now lives in Sydney.
The Anne Landa Award is the first award exhibition in Australia dedicated to moving image and new media arts. The award honors Anne Landa, a long serving trustee of the Art Gallery and enthusiastic supporter of the arts, who died in 2002.
The Art Gallery of New South Wales is on Art Gallery Rd, The Domain, Sydney, and is open daily except Christmas Day.
