Sail to Botany Bay
on the Endeavour
Wednesday April 18, 2007
With the 237th anniversary of Captain James Cook's landing at Botany Bay marked on April 29, the Australian Maritime Museum is offering an opportunity to sail on its replica of Captain Cook's ship.
The five-day voyage from Sydney to Botany Bay and back takes place from April 26 to 30, following the shorter morning and afternoon tea cruises held on the Endeavour in March.
On the Botany Bay voyage, crew members are taught 18th century sailing techniques and sleep in hammocks, just as 18th century sailors did. But if experiencing 18th-century privilege is more your style, supernumerary (non-sailor) berths are also available.
If interested in the Botany Bay voyage, contact the Endeavour office on 02-9298-3777 or email endeavour@anmm.gov.au to see if berths are still available.
