New South Wales Horse Races Suspended Indefinitely
Monday August 27, 2007
Horse racing in Sydney and the rest of New South Wales has been suspended indefinitely as the state seeks to isolate and stop the incidence of equine influenza. The suspension of horse racing activities in the state is expected to be reviewed weekly or as the need arises.
At the moment, there have been no reports of equine influenza in Melbourne and the rest of Victoria, providing hope that this year's Melbourne Cup would not be affected by the incidence of contagious equine influenza in sectors of the horse racing industry.
