Go Hang Gliding or Fly Tandem
Wednesday September 19, 2007
Just south of Royal National Park, along the Grand Pacific Drive, you're likely to find hang gliders and paragliders taking off from Bald Hill and sailing with grace in the coastal sky.
Bald Hill, at Stanwell Park, is reputed to be one of the best spots in Australia for hang gliding. This is also the place where a monument to Lawrence Hargrave, Australian aviation pioneer, stands.
Bald Hill is a half hour to an hour's drive south from Sydney, depending on where you're starting from. And if you're after a bit of a swim as well, there's Stanwell Park beach just down the road.
If you want to learn hang gliding, or want to go tandem hang gliding, there's Warren Windsports which should be able to help you.
Interesting to know that Curt Warren who runs Warren Windsports was 2004 and 2006 USA national hang gliding champion and placed 10th in the 2003 world championships held in Brazil.
