Australia's First Female Governor-General

For the first time in 107 years, Australia has a woman Governor-General.Governor-General-designate Quentin Bryce was sworn into office at Canberra's Australian Parliament House on September 5, local time.
She succeeds Governor-General Michael Jeffery who has retired.
The new Australian Governor-General is the 25th person — and the first woman — appointed to the position.
