All's Set for Australia Premiere

Thursday November 13, 2008
Australia the movie hits cinema screens on November 26, giving cinemagoers a first taste of the Baz Luhrmann epic wholly filmed in Australia.

Its world premiere takes place eight days earlier, on November 18, in Sydney, Darwin in the Northern Territory, Bowen in Queensland and Kununurra in Western Australia, all film locations for the great, grand adventure romance that is Luhrmann's fourth film.

Australia is an Outback saga set in the years leading to the Japanese bombing raid on Darwin in the early months of World War II's Pacific War.

It tells the story of English aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley (played by Nicole Kidman) who inherits an Australian Outback cattle property.

To save the animals from local cattle barons, Lady Ashley joins forces with a rugged cattle drover (Hugh Jackman) to drive 2000 cattle through Australia's Top End, only to be caught in the events surrounding the bombing of Darwin.

If going by Luhrmann's previous movies, Australia should be a film of impressive grandeur, innovative direction, and storytelling at its finest.
