Sydney Hobart Yacht Race - GPS Tracking System Gives Wrong Account of Leaders

Saturday December 27, 2008
Apparently, a global positioning system error gave the lead in the evening of December 27, Australian eastern daylight saving time, to Secret Men's Business #1 when in fact the race leaders remained Wild Oats XI and Skandia.

At 5am, December 28, the official site of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race's yacht tracker showed Wild Oats XI back in the lead and only 53 nautical miles of the finish line in Hobart's Derwent River, with ASM Shockwave 5 in second place and Skandia, third.
