No 3 seed and last year's Australian Open men's singles champion Novak Djokovic (Serbia) was forced to retire from his quarter-final clash with No 7 seed Andy Roddick (US) in the afternoon of January 27, local time.
Roddick was leading 6-7, 6-4, 6-2, 2-1, when it appeared Djokovic was battling cramps and heat stress.
