Popular No 5 seed and last year's Australian Open runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (France) has been eliminated from this year's Grand Slam tournament at Melbourne Park.
No 14 seed Fernando Verdasco (Spain) defeated Muhammad Ali-lookalike Tsonga in four sets, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, on Wednesday.
World No 1 Rafael Nadal (Spain) then trounced No 6 seed Gilles Simon (France), 6-2, 7-5, 7-5, on Wednesday night.
Nadal thus meets Verdasco in an all-Spanish semi-final.
