Melbourne Has Beaches Close to the City Centre

Wednesday February 18, 2009
Because the Yarra River runs through it, and major Melbourne attractions lie along its banks or north of it, visitors to Melbourne tend to forget (as I did on many previous trips) that this is a bayside city with a number of beaches.

Particularly with contiuing — although at the moment often erratic — summer conditions, the beaches have become more and more attractive. In Melbourne, there's St Kilda Beach, of course, and there's Brighton with its row of colorful bathing boxes, and then there are the many surfing beaches... Photo: Brighton Beach © Tourism Victoria
