Walk to Cataract Gorge from Launceston City Centre

Saturday March 21, 2009
Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Tasmania, lies just west of the city centre and, depending on where you start, could be as close as a 10-minute walk.

With steep walls along the banks of the South Esk River as it enters the Tamar, the gorge has become a favorite place to visit for its walking tracks, picnic areas and, across First Basin, a chair lift which brings you into the Cliff Grounds Reserve west of the South Esk.
