So you think it was in the bag? Yes, it was. The Bart Cummings-trained racehorse So You Think, at extremely short odds paying $1.50-$1.60 for a $1 bet, has won this year's 2040m $3-million Cox Plate at Melbourne's Moonee Valley Racecourse for the second year in a row.

So You Think not only won last year's Cox Plate but has also won its past three starts for a total of six wins in nine races.

Ten runners contested the Cox with More Joyous, trained by Gai Waterhouse, second favorite in early markets with single-digit odds. The rest of the field were saddled with double-digit odds.

Finishing the Cox this year were So You Think, Zipping and Whobegotyou in the first three places.

The Cox Plate was run in the afternoon of October 23, Australian eastern daylight saving time.

As with the Caulfield Cup, how the horses run the Cox Plate course could be a valuable pointer to this year's Melbourne Cup.
