Williams Loses to Unseeded Russian

American Serena Williams, five-time Australian Open women's singles champion, lost her fourth round match against unseeded Russian Ekaterina Makarova.

In one of the biggest upsets in Australian Open history, Marakova trounced Williams in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

Williams was seeded 12th in the Australian Open while unseeded Marakova was ranked 56th in women's singles tennis.
