From December 13 to Christmas Day, December 25, Sydney's St Mary's Cathedral will be bathed in a spectacular show of light and sound in the Lights of Christmas event, now in its third year.
Lights of Christmas features image projections and an immersive soundscape from 8.30pm until late, and on selected evenings is accompanied by some of Sydney's best choral voices. The St Mary's spectacular is presented by the Archdiocese of Sydney and Australian Catholic University.
Projected over the 75-metre-high and 33-metre-wide fašade of the sandstone cathedral, the illuminations tell a story of unity, where all of Australia's cultures and backgrounds come together and wish the world peace and harmony.
In celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the artworks that adorn the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel by Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo, the iconic image of life and a series of images of Madonna and Child will complete the story.
