On the way to this year's Open, Djokovic lost in straight sets to Australia's Bernard Tomic on January 2 at the Hopman Cup in Perth.

Last year's Australian Open runner-up Rafael Nadal is not playing in the Melbourne Grand Slam tournament this year.
