Within 10 kilometres of the Outback city of Broken Hill, giant pieces of sculpture stand guard in the hills like silent sentinels from, perhaps, another world.
What they are are works of outdoor art by artists from around the globe and you will find these works in the Living Desert Reserve just out of town.
They are part of the attractions that make Broken Hill a visitor destination despite the city's distance from, say, Sydney or Adelaide.
Add to this the ambiance of an Outback region and you get an interesting mix of pioneering history and cultural explorations manifested in the city's many museums and galleries.
