New South Wales and Australia's other states and territories are gearing up for extreme hot weather tomorrow, January 8, and in the following week or so as many areas expect to be hit by temperatures in the 40°s or high 30°s.
Already bushfires in the past week have razed some communities in Tasmania and open bush in various parts of Australia.
A total ban on lighting outdoor fires is in force in New South Wales from midnight tonight, January 7, Australian eastern daylight saving time, to prevent the start of bushfires as part of precautionary measures being implemented.
