In some years, it has been the site of Sydney Festival concerts and other events when crowds fill almost all conceivable space.
On Anzac Day, it is the place for the traditional dawn service which remembers all who have served in war.
This is Sydney's Martin Place, of course, and it really is Everyman's Plaza.
Located in the heart of the city, it is both lunchtime and break time venue for office workers in the area as well as a place for socialising.
And it fills up for special events.
At other times it is a place for quiet strolls and peaceful relaxation, and a throughway from George St to Macquarie St as well as an entry point to the railway's City Circle.
It is a place of many faces.
