The Big Blowhole (yes, there is a Little Blowhole) is a main reason for visiting the coastal town of Kiama not too far south from Sydney.
But that's not all there is to Kiama. There are great surfing beaches, mysterious rock formations, centuries-old dry stone walls, native gardens, picnic areas, rainforest walks and within 15 kilometres from town are the Minnamurra Rainforest and Jamberoo Action Park.
For many, Kiama is a daytrip destination from Sydney or a stopover point on trips further down the coast or all the way to Melbourne. But staying in Kiama for more than a day can be a pleasant and often unexpected coastal and rainforest experience as well.
