Australian Open: 11 Seeded Players Eliminated in Round 1

Round 1 of the Australian Open saw 11 seeded players — five men and six women — eliminated in the first two days of the Grand Slam tennis competition in Melbourne.

Among the top players losing to unseeded players were women's No 7 seed Sara Errani of Italy and men's No 11 seed Juan Monaco of Argentina.

Round 2 of singles matches begin today, January 16, Australian eastern daylight saving time.
