What more apt place is there to go horse riding than on the beach at Horseshoe Bay on Queensland's Magnetic Island just 30 minutes by ferry from Townsville?
Horse riding is but one of the various activities visitors can enjoy on Magnetic Island. Go swimming, sailing or scuba diving, or go inland on the island's many walking tracks.
It was Captain James Cook who named the island Magnetic when he thought it affected his compass on his journey up the coast of Queensland in 1770. It was later discovered that the island was only magnetic in that it drew visitors to it.
