Never Smile at a Crocodile

Queensland newspaper The Courier-Mail today reported the capture of a young crocodile in a public lagoon near the centre of Caboolture at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast.

According to The Courier-Mail, the 60cm saltwater crocodile was first spotted on Wednesday as it sunned itself on the bank of the natural waterway. The crocodile was plucked from the lake by Australia Zoo's crocodile rescue unit.

The crocodile was believed to have been dumped in the lagoon in an "area that's used by a lot of children" and "dumping it was irresponsible," said a Sunshine Coast local.

Several crocodile sightings in the Noosa River were reported in September.
