Saltwater Crocodile

Northern Territory

If you're this close to this creature, beware, you're in extreme danger. The saltwater crocodile, familiarly known as saltie (as opposed to freshie), attacks even when unprovoked and has caused the death of many of the unwary. You will find salties in the Northern Territory, particularly at the Top End, and in northern Queensland. Although dangerous, they (as well as their freshwater cousins) are a protected species.
