Particularly in the warmer months, the beaches on Gulf St Vincent along thewestern coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula are popular with daytrippers from Adelaide.

Probably the best spots for swimming and sunbaking are in the section north from Aldinga Beach halfway down the western coast.

Farther south the Fleurieu Peninsula coast is rockier although you will still find good swimming beaches such as at Carrickalinga or Normanville.

The Fleurieu Peinsula coast road -- a scenic course in itself -- extends all the way south from around Morphett Vale to Cape Jervis.

Nudist beach

North of Aldinga Beach, you will find the better-known Christie’s, Seaford, Moana and Maslin Beaches.

Maslin is particularly noteworthy as the only nudist beach in South Australia.

The better surfing beaches are found mostly along the southern coastline facing the Southern Ocean.

If in doubt where to go, ask a local to point you in the right direction. The sea -- and the beaches -- are never far away.
