St Mary's Cathedral

Sydney

This photograph of the facade of St Mary's Cathedral, mother church of Australian Catholicism, was taken before work began in May 1999 on placing spires on the twin towers. The cathedral's foundation stone was laid in 1868. When the cathedral was finally built, it lacked spires on the front towers ostensibly from running out of funds.St Mary's Cathedral facade
