Formerly Stadium Australia

This is the showpiece of the sporting facilities at Homebush Bay and the largest structure built for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The Games' opening and closing ceremonies, as well as other sporting events, were held here. The stadium had seating for 110,000 people during the Games, but now seats fewer people after modifications were made.

Originally named Stadium Australia, the telecommunications company Telstra acquired naming rights in 2002 and the sports venue became known as Telstra Stadium. When Telstra did not renew its naming rights, the stadium — owned by an ANZ Bank-led consortium — was renamed ANZ Stadium in 2008.
