This is the film which won for Nicole Kidman the best actress award in the 2003 Oscars for her portrayal of writer Virginia Woolf. The film has great ensemble acting from co-stars Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore.

This is the last film (1999) directed by Stanley Kubrick. Nicole Kidman is here paired with then husband Tom Cruise in an intriguing story relative to their on-screen marriage. Another of those films you'll either love or hate. Worth a look.6. Dead Calm
This is an early Nicole Kidman film (1989) directed by Australian Phillip Noyce. A gripping story where the couple played by Kidman and Sam Neill pick up a stranger at sea who then proceeds to terrorise them. Neill, Kidman and Billy Zane (as the stranger) combine to create a tapestry of terror.7. To Die For
1995 movie directed by Guy Van Sant which brought a best actress comedy or musical Golden Globe to Nicole Kidman as the amoral whatever-it-takes striver after a career in television. Biting satire, black humor.8. The Others
This is a ghost story with a difference with Nicole Kidman as a woman raising two children by herself in a creepy mansion. The children must remain in the dark because they are allergic to light. Highly-stylised English-language debut of director Alejandro Amenabar.9. The Portrait of a Lady
An ambitious film by New Zealand director Jane Campion made after her award-winning movie The Piano. Based on the Henry James novel. Nicole Kidman stars with Barbara Hershey and John Malkovich. Beautifully photographed.10. Birthday Girl
Interesting film with Nicole Kidman as a Russian mail-order bride who speaks no English but seems to know all about sex. Ben Chaplin plays the husband. Twists, turns, surprises.
