Skiing and Snowboarding

Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown adventure: Skiing on the slopes of The Remarkables
Skiing on the slopes of The Remarkables

In the Queenstown winter, the focus turns to skiing, snowboarding and other snow activities.

The nearest slopes are those of Coronet Peak which start just at the edge of town.

There are The Remarkables a little farther off, although only 24 kilometres from town, and the Wanaka skifields of Treble Cone and Cardrona if you want to journey further afield.

Ski season

The ski season starts in June with the onset of winter and may run through to October.

At Coronet Peak, there is night skiing from 4pm to 8pm, usually from Thursday to Sunday. If this interests you, confirm night skiing periods at a Queenstown information office.

There are also opportunities for cross-country skiing and heli-skiing around Queenstown.

Ski clothing and equipment can be bought or rented in town.
