Poupou - Carved Wooden Post

Christchurch, New Zealand

This Poupou (carved wooden post) celebrates the presence of the Maori in Christchurch. It was created by artist Riki Henare Manuel and is of painted totara wood. The carving was commissioned by the Christchurch City Council and now stands in Victoria Park by the Avon River.
