Victoria Bridge Christchurch

Crossing the Avon River in Victoria Park, Christchurch, is the Victoria Bridge which used to be the wooden Papanui Bridge erected in 1851. The cast iron and stone Victoria Bridge was built in 1863-64 and was later widened (in 1875) by adding wing piers and a wooden outrigger footpath. It ws further widened in 1885 to its present form.
