Cape Reinga Lighthouse

Solitary Landmark in Far North New Zealand

Cape Reinga Lighthouse

Cape Reinga lies at the northern tip of the Aupouri Peinsula in far north North Island.

Although it isn't the northernmost point of New Zealand, it is more accessible than the Surville Cliffs on North Cape, 30 kilometres farther east, which has that distinction.

The Cape Reinga Lighthouse looks down at the Columbia Bank maelstrom where the waters of the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean meet.

See Ninety Mile Beach to Cape Reinga.
