Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki is in silhouette in this statue at Jindabyne honoring the Polish explorer of the Snowy Mountains.

He discovered and climbed Australia's highest mountain peak and named it after the Polish leader and patriot Tadeusz Kosciuszco.

Strzelecki discovered gold and silver in New South Wales and coal deposits in Tasmania. He measured mountains and analysed soil, anc collected and identified many fossils and minerals.
