The Sydney Festival, a celebration of arts and culture, is held in Sydney each January.
The 2007 Sydney Festival ran for three weeks from January 6, through Australia Day, to January 27. The Sydney Festival features local and international theatre, music, dance, multi-disciplinary and visual arts, and is one of the biggest arts festivals not only in Australia but in many parts of the world.
It is a celebration of culture and a period of fun, joy, pleasure, and fresh new insights.
Highlights of the 2007 Sydney Festival included:
Dance and Physical Theatre
- Batsheva Ensemble's Kamuyot at Parramatta Police Citizens Youth Club on January 13, KGV Recreation Centre at The Rocks on January 14 and new Sydney arts venue CarriageWorks Bay 17 at Eveleigh on January 15.
- Circa's The Space Between at Lennox Theatre, Parramatta Riverside Theatres, from January 16 to 20, and at the Sydney Opera House Playhouse from January 23 to 27.
- Meryl Tankard and Taikoz' Kaidan at the Sydney Opera House Drama Theatre from January 18 to 27. Extended to January 31.
- Australian Dance Theatre's Devolution at CarriageWorks Bay 17 from January 24 to 27.

- Sky Orchestra music from hot air balloons at sunrise across west of the city from January 6 to 8.
- Movies in the Overflow evenings at Sydney Olympic Park from January 6 to 21.
- Noite Brasil at The Domain on January 13 and at Prince Alfred Park on January 14.

- New Yorker Kaki King at the Famous Spiegeltent, Hyde Park North, on January 11 and 12.
- The Stomp Company's Lost and Found Orchestra at the Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House, from January 15 to 21.
- Lou Reed's Berlin at the State Theatre from January 18 to 20.

Visual Arts
- Centre Pompidou Video Art: 1965-2005 at the Museum of Contemporary Art from December 14 to February 25, 10am to 5pm daily except Christmas Day. Free.
