Question: Who Wrote The Bride Stripped Bare?
Answer: If you've read - or heard of - the bestseller The Bride Stripped Bare, a sex-and-the-married-woman confessional novel which doesn't blink its eye on eroticism and the sexual act, you'd know that the book published by HarperCollins in early 2004 is, originally, by Anonymous.
Well, it didn't take long to be revealed but Anonymous is in fact Australian writer Nikki Gemmell.
Thirtysomething Gemmell was born in Wollongong, New South Wales, an hour or so by road south of Sydney.
She has had stints as an actor, shop assistant and waiter before turning to journalism, working in Sydney, Alice Springs and Darwin. She went on to study writing at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Her first book of fiction was Shiver, whch was well received in Australia and France, followed by Cleave and Love Story.
Gemmell lives in London at Notting Hill with husband Andrew Sholl and children Lachlan and Oliver.
