Flightseeing ... fly over Queenstown to go sightseeing by air

© Tourism New Zealand

It's sightseeing by air over Queenstown and, of course, they call it flightseeing.

You go on a flight and go sightseeing so naturally it's flightseeing.

Flightseeing in Queenstown leaves from the airport northwest of town.

Take a ride on a helicopter or fixed-wing light aircraft, and view the amazing spectacle that the Queenstown region offers from the air.

If you combine flightseeing with a cruise on Milford Sound, you can do that, too.

Note that flights to and from Milford Sound very much depend on weather conditions, and there's always the chance you can get stranded at either end, in which case you can always take the bus.

By land and water

If you'd rather remain on land, you can go sightseeing in your own (or rented) vehicle or take any of the organised bus tours.

You can also take a boat cruise on Lake Wakatipu. There are various options available, including a match race on a yacht or crewing on the boat.

Other Queenstown activities include mountain biking, motorcycling, hiking (or tramping, as the locals call it), horseback riding, windsurfing, water skiing, golf and other sports.

It's really all up to you to do what you want to do — to get the pulsebeat racing.
