Queenstown lies on the northern shore of the eastern section of Lake Wakatipu.
This is lakes country and west of Queenstown is Fiordland national park which is crossed by many rivers and lakes, mostly fed by the glaciers on Mt Cook.

Walk by the bay
Take the Skyline gondola just behind town for a hilltop view of the lakes and lakeside Queenstown.
For a bite to eat, there are a number of Queenstown restaurants and coffee shops on Shotover St and Beach St, or try The Mall.
Take a walk along the curve of Queenstown Bay where there may be colorful outdoor craft stalls on certain days. You can take jetboat rides right from the pier.
