The best Sydney hotel depends to an extremely large extent on personal experience and personal preferences.
With a number of Sydney five-star hotels, one is really spoiled for choice — with excellent standards of service, fine dining and the ultimate in accommodation comfort.
As a Sydneysider, I have had no call to stay in any of Sydney's city hotels so cannot speak as a result of wide Sydney hotel experience.
Personal preference
So what of my choice of best Sydney hotel?
My personal preference is for the Park Hyatt Hotel on Hickson Rd in the historic Rocks district.
Not only is it on the water but it has excellent views of Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Close to Sydney attractions
In fact you can, if you wished, walk around the Circular Quay area — which is a convenient bus, train and ferry hub — into the grounds of the Opera House.
Or you could take a water taxi right from Park Hyatt Hotel to the Opera House steps.
You also would be within leisurely walking distance to the sightseeing attractions of The Rocks and its many shops, pubs and restaurants.
