- The Alice Springs Regatta, more properly known as the Henley-on-Todd Regatta, is scheduled to take place this year on August 18.
The Henley-on-Todd Regatta takes place on the Todd River in Alice Springs, but only when the river is dry. If rains somehow cause the river to have water, well, the regatta is called off. Of course.
The Todd River is east of the Alice Springs town centre, and it is on the dry riverbed that the celebrated Henley-on-Todd Regatta is held in late winter or early spring.
All manner of watercraft compete in the regatta, but all the yachts and boats are without bottoms and are generally powered by feet — if you can imagine that.
From small one-person boats to large pirate sailing ships, all compete in the fun of the regatta.
