Yulara is the tourist town less than 20 kilometres north of Uluru in Australia's Red Centre.
The town is self-contained with hotels, restaurants, tour companies, shops, and an airport.
Visitors to the World Heritage-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park can find accommodation at Yulara but since it is about the only resort town close to Uluru, you can imagine that it will be quite a pricey place.
Alternatively, accommodation can be found in the town of Alice Springs but that's more than 450 kilometres away. The Alice, as the town is known, has the advantage of being served by the Ghan on the Darwin-Adelaide rail route.
