Emergency Help

The Number to Call in Australia

By Larry Rivera, About.com

In case of emergency, get to a phone and dial 000.

This is the number to call when you need emergency help in the event of a serious health problem, fire, or crime.

Forget 911

If you come from the United States, forget about 911. It's 000 in Australia.

The 000 number connects to the ambulance, fire and police services.

In a building or on the street

If you're in a hotel, motel or other type of accommodation, ring the reception desk or contact any staff member immediately.

On the street, seek aid from those around you.
