Site of some of Sydney's major horse racing events — particularly of the world's richest horse race for two-year-olds, the Golden Slipper — Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is located in the geographical centre of the Sydney metropolitan area, just east of Parramatta and Harris Park.
Views and wine
The racecourse, with main entry on James Ruse Dr, provides sweeping views of the track, particularly from the J R Fleming and Members Stands.
Full buffet lunch, wine with meals and a complimentary racebook may be ordered at these stands.
Escalators, stairs and wheelchair access are available for quick and easy movement between floors.
Betting facilities
Bookies and automatic totalisators provide betting facilities.
Track size
The course proper is fully grassed with a circumference of 2048 metres and a straight of 408 metres. Track width at the winning post is 20 metres.
Getting there
The western Sydney racecourse, one of four major horse racing tracks in the Sydney area, is within half an hour by train from the Sydney city centre. Driving time varies with the route taken and traffic conditions at the time.
Three major Sydney roads — Parramatta Rd, Victoria Rd and the M4 Motorway — provide access to Rosehill Gardens. Unfortunately traffic on Parramatta and Victoria Rds tend to be heavy which could increase travel times.
Raceday trains run direct to the racetrack.
For more leisurely travel from Circular Quay and jetties along Parramatta River, take the Rivercat ferry to Parramatta where a free bus service is available from the wharf to the racecourse.
